Hotel Acoustic Panels in the UAE: NRC, RT60 & Specification Guide
For architects and AV/acoustic consultants specifying hospitality in the Gulf, this guide explains how to choose acoustic panels by performance rather than appearance — and how to coordinate them with FF&E and automation. Gravity Trading FZ-LLC supplies PET-felt, fabric-wrapped and suspended acoustic systems from Dubai.
NRC vs RT60 — read this first
NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient, 0-1) is a single panel’s absorption average; RT60 is how long sound takes to decay 60 dB in the whole room. A 0.85-NRC panel means nothing until you model it against room volume. Typical hotel targets: lobby 0.8-1.2 s, guest room 0.5-0.7 s, ballroom 1.1-1.4 s.
Panel types and where they go
| Product | Use | Gravity SKU |
|---|---|---|
| PET Felt Acoustic Wall Panel | Corridors, rooms, back-of-house | GR-AC-602 |
| Fabric-Wrapped Acoustic Partition | Lobbies, ballroom dividers | GR-AC-654 |
| Acoustic Ceiling Cloud | Lobby/ballroom ceilings | GR-AC-633 |
| Suspended Acoustic Baffle | Open atria, pre-function | GR-AC-618 |
Specification order
- Set the RT60 target per space from the acoustic brief.
- Identify first-reflection and flutter planes (hard parallel walls/ceilings).
- Size panel NRC coverage to hit RT60; don’t over-treat (dead rooms feel wrong).
- Pick finishes for the Gulf climate: low-VOC, humidity-stable, cleanable.
- Coordinate with lighting and GRMS so panels don’t fight ceiling services.
